You can arrange luggage delivery in Hokkaido, but do not assume your suitcase will arrive the same day. The service, where you send it from, the destination, the drop-off deadline and the hotel all make a difference. Confirm these details before handing over a bag you will need that evening.
Sending a suitcase ahead can make getting from place to place easier, especially when you are managing children or winter streets. But it also means your belongings make a separate journey, so plan it as carefully as your train or flight.
Three different arrangements to distinguish

Yamato’s TA-Q-BIN service page explains its sending options and restrictions. Its same-day service is a separate option available only at selected counters and for selected destinations; deadlines vary, and weather or traffic can cause delays.
How to send a bag to your next hotel
First, ask the hotel you are sending it to whether it will accept and hold luggage for your reservation. Give them your reservation name and check-in date, and ask for the exact address and any instructions for the label. Then ask your current hotel whether it can arrange the shipment and what its deadline is.
If your hotel cannot send it, ask at a delivery service counter or sales office. Not every hotel offers this service. Confirm the delivery date with the carrier for your actual origin and destination, especially if you are staying only a short time at the next hotel.
Use the same guest name as on your booking at the next hotel. Keep the tracking receipt and take a photo of the label. Before you leave, check that the label shows your next hotel and not another branch with a similar name.
Yamato’s Round Trip TA-Q-BIN has its own deadlines for sending in advance: at least two days before check-in, or three days for some areas, by the counter’s cutoff time. These rules apply only to that service; they are not a general estimate for every hotel-to-hotel delivery.
Is same-day delivery from New Chitose Airport available?
The airport lists Skyporter Service SAPPORO for designated hotels in Sapporo’s Chuo Ward. Bags for airport-to-hotel delivery are accepted from 8:00 to 14:30. This does not mean every Sapporo hotel is covered.
The operator’s service page lists participating hotels and conditions. It currently shows tax-inclusive fees of ¥1,650 for a bag up to 120 cm (total of all three sides), ¥2,200 for up to 160 cm, and ¥3,850 for the larger category. Check the category and acceptance conditions for your bag at the counter, especially if it is close to a size limit.
For airport-to-hotel delivery, the operator says bags can be collected at the hotel from 18:00. If you arrive earlier, keep what you need until then with you. And even with a scheduled delivery time, do not pack anything in the suitcase that you could not manage without if it is delayed.
Can you send a bag back to the airport?
Skyporter’s hotel-to-airport service currently requires you to drop off your bag at a participating hotel by 9:00, and you can collect it at the airport between 13:30 and 20:00. If that window leaves too little time before your flight, this service will not work for you. Also confirm that your hotel offers this direction.
If you are using another carrier, ask which airport delivery service you need and when the bag must be sent. Check the terminal and counter where you will collect it before paying. A bag delivered to the airport is not automatically checked in for your flight.
What should stay with you?
Keep your passport, payment methods, essential medication, valuables and anything you will need before your bag arrives with you. For families, think about changes of clothes and the supplies you will need until the next morning. Ask the carrier about prohibited or restricted items before packing.
A practical approach is to pack as if your large suitcase might take longer than expected to reach you. If that makes your day bag too hard to carry, consider luggage storage or taking the suitcase with you instead.
A message to send your hotel
“I have a reservation under [name] from [date]. May I send one suitcase to your hotel before check-in? Please let me know the address, how early it can arrive and any instructions for the delivery label. Could you also arrange delivery to my next hotel or to New Chitose Airport?”
When is delivery worth considering?
